NEW
ADDITION TO OUR OFFICE We just recently installed the
latest and greatest in digital imaging technology, the Topcon NW6S retinal camera. This amazing camera allows us to take crystal clear images of the retina without dilating
the eyes in most patients! It uses a Nikon SLR body to capture the
images and stores them on PC. We can then show the images immediately to our patients to educate them on their eye health.
It is invaluable at helping detect diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy,
macular degeneration, and many other retinal problems. And it serves as a wonderful tool for obtaining baseline information
in order to compare images at later dates.

CONTACT
LENSES THE ACUVUE OASYS It's not exactly brand new but I still think it's the best lens to have come out in recent years and is
Acuvue's latest lens. What makes it special is that even though it is a silicone hydrogel lens which breathes extremely well
it is not as rigid as other silicone hydrogels therefore making for a very comfortable lens from the get go. If you are looking
to take the next step up from and Acuvue 2 or comparable lens and you want to be able to sleep in a contact lens then I'd
suggest you give this a test drive. One downside I can think of with this lens is that it can attract deposits on the surface
faster than other lenses which can be problematic for eye allergy sufferers, however we have remedies for these situations. CONTACTS FOR ASTIGMATISM I can't tell you how many times I've had patients tell me they were told by a previous eye doctor that they can't
wear contact lenses due to their astigmatism. The truth is there has never been a better time to give contacts a try
no matter what kind of prescription you have. There are lenses for astigmatism (Toric lenses) that are available for just
about any prescription out there. And contacts have never been more affordable than now due to the availablitiy of disposable
lenses and the competition that exists among contatc lens manufacturers. The new Ciba Air Optix toric looks promising so far
as a lens that can be worn overnight for a week at a time. And now the Acuvue Oasys is available for astigmatism.
